FoodBridge releases foodtech report on food of the future
2/16/2023
FoodBridge – Axel Johnson's platform for investing in early foodtech start-ups – has released a report highlighting four areas in foodtech: NextGen Foods, Food Waste, Health & Nutrition and Future Food Services. The aim is to spread knowledge, to create dialogue among the various actors in the food system and to highlight new innovative solutions.
FoodBridge was launched in spring 2022 with the aim of promoting innovation within the food system and investing in early stage foodtech companies with the potential to accelerate sustainable change along the entire value chain.
The report, A Taste of Foodtech: Trends Reshaping the Food System, is one of several initiatives aiming to spread knowledge about foodtech and encourage dialogue among different players within the food system: entrepreneurs, established companies, public decision-makers, investors and consumers. Each chapter in the report ends with a QR code where the reader can leave comments and feel free to challenge the content of the report.
Fanny Nachemson, Head of FoodBridge, says:
"We want to inspire more people to learn about foodtech and hope that this report can serve as a source of knowledge for many. With a focus on innovation, existing solutions and challenges, we want to spur engagement and discussion about how we can create a better future food system."
The report, A Taste of Foodtech: Trends Reshaping the Food System, touches on many current issues and challenges, such as food waste, lifestyle diseases, the protein shift and food inflation, but also highlights possible paths to positive change. Despite a strong belief in innovation and technological development, an important reflection in the report is that the price of our food needs to better reflect food's actual cost, including its climate footprint.
